Q:
No matter whatever sin (major or minor) someone commits, they have to take care of themselves, their health, their skin and other matters?
If they commit some sins related to exercise, like they looked at the part of the awrah which is to be covered, still can a person exercise after this?
A:
In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-Giving.
All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad.
Islam commends its followers to lead a healthy life and have strong bodies. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak one; though both have goodness in them.” (Muslim)
Sports and exercises are permissible for Muslims, including Muslim women, as long as they are practiced within Shariah limits and regulations. Generally speaking, such regulations include,
- No gambling shall be involved.
- No music shall be played.
- No religious duties shall be neglected.
- No animosity shall be incurred.
- None of Shariah prohibitions shall be violated (such as exposing or looking at other’s `awrah (body parts to be concealed)).
For Muslim women, in particular, they have to wear decent and proper Islamic dresses and to be in a place where no man can watch them.
Allah knows best.
