There is a widespread saying that zina is a debt and that if a man commits zina, the female members will get involved in the commission of zina. But this saying has no foundation in the texts of the Quran or authentic Sunnah. On the contrary, we read in the Quran “Yet no sin-laden soul shall carry the sinful load of another”, (Fatir 35:18) which reveals the absolute justice of Almighty Allah.

However, this saying has been propagated by preachers in their dissuasive admonitions to deter people from committing zina. In fact, the truth of this saying has been supported by some actual cases where men who have committed zina have discovered that some of their wives or female relatives have got involved in in the same abominable act. Such actual cases could be explained as sorts of worldly punishment for such fornicators and adulterers.
In other words, a man who commits zina and never repents will have his punishment in this world and in the hereafter. Part of this worldly punishment is to see such abominable act done by his wife or one of his female relatives. This may likely, but not necessarily, take place; for we all know that there many pious and chaste women who have husbands or male relatives committing zina.

However, such a man, who insists on committing zina, has weak faith and morality and this weakness of faith and morality may extend to his family members; particularly if he is the one responsible for them, which makes them more prone to slip into the same wicked trap. Usually corrupt houses breed corrupt people while good houses breed good people.

Of course, if one repents, after committing zina, this repentance wipes out his sin along with its worldly and Hereafter punishment. Almighty Allah says what means “And they are the ones who do not call upon any other god with God. Nor do they kill a soul- which God has prohibited- except by right. Nor do they commit illicit sexual intercourse. For whoever does this shall meet the penalty of sin: Torment shall be multiplied on the Day of Resurrection for such a one. Thus he shall abide therein forever, disgraced- except for whoever repents, and believes, and does righteous deeds. For [the likes of] them, then, God will substitute their misdeeds with good deeds. And ever is God all-forgiving, mercy-giving.” (Al-Furqan 25:68-70)

Almighty Allah knows best.
