When is it okay to cut ties with certain people?

Q:

I have been bullied since when I was in primary school all the way to highschool,it made going to school hard,I always fear what might go wrong, who will humiliate me today? Who will make fun of me? I don’t want to get into details, all in all,it made me wish I could live alone somewhere far away from humanity.

Is it Haram to cut ties with such people? Some people say that if they did it and apologize I should move on but that’s not the case, they do it again and again.

Our Islamic teachers told us that if one person fights with another person and they refuse to talk to each other for more than three days,God won’t accept any of their good deeds,it made me scared which is the only reason I’m still kind to them, mostly I keep holding grudges on them and every time something good happens to them I feel envious and think why is God making them succeed while I keep suffering?

I have to be the one calling and texting them while sometimes I just Ignore everyone,it is very distressing.

A:

If those individuals who bullied you in the past have changed and are not doing it now, you should forget and forgive and move on with your life.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Forgive those who offend you, and give to those who deny you and join relations with those who sever relations with you.” (Ahmad)

That is the ideal Islamic behavior. If it is hard for you to rise to this level, then move on with your life and leave their judgment to Allah.

You are allowed to stay away from them to avoid being hurt again. That is not wrong.

However, this does not mean that you refuse to exchange greetings with themif they cross your path anywhere.

Almighty Allah knows best.
