Bus Driver Helps Homeless Man Find Shelter

A female bus driver in the U.S. city of Milwaukee has been praised for her kindness after helping a homeless man to find a permanent housing. Global news reported.

Speaking with the male rider, Natalie Barnes found that his house had apparently been condemned and he had been homeless for a week.

Touched by his ordeal, she let the man stay on the bus throughout her shift. She also offered to buy him dinner and whatever he needed. The kind-hearted driver also talked with people who could find the homeless man a place to live.

“This is my distant family I see every day and he needed help, so I felt like I had to help him,” Barnes said. “I couldn’t go home to my family knowing he had nowhere to go at night, so I had a special friend who I had to call on for help, and he was able to do that for us.”

“At some point in our lives, everybody needs help,” she said in a statement quoted by CNN. “I wanted to do what I could to help Richard in some way.”

Barnes was honored by Milwaukee County Transit System for her kindness to the homeless man. The man now is in a safe place and working with an agency to get permanent housing.
