The Best is Yet to Come
No more periods, no more PMS, no more fear of pregnancy, the end of hormonal headaches; Hip hip hooray!
Menopause can be a time to celebrate. Many women experience a huge boost in self-esteem after menopause. This may sound counterintuitive but really, this is a time for you to recognize that your sex appeal was not and is not the standard upon which you should be valued or that you should value yourself.
You are much more than that. You are graduating into a space of mutual spiritual unconditional love and respect for yourself and for others.
With proper care and the right attitude menopause can be the best time of your life.
Free from superficial obsessions, you will have more space in your mind for intellectual, spiritual and even romantic pursuits with your life partner.
Your children are growing older and you are free to discover and pursue the things you once buried right along with the dirty diapers dishes. It’s time to let go of the “coulda, woulda, shoulda” and make the most of – what is. After years of life experience, child-rearing and/or careers, women are more likely to go after what they want during this time and to do it with more courage and confidence.
Whatever your circumstances, focus on the little mundane pleasures and cultivate a lifestyle that will nourish you in ways that you have been conditioned to believe are self-indulgent. Take piano lessons, start a book club, start journaling, baking, sewing, dancing. Whatever brings you joy is now worthy of your time and attention.
Your youth may be over, but your life minus all the tribulations of youth, is just beginning. Menopause can be a welcome change, if you just let go.
