When Melanie Elturk, the CEO of Haute Hijab , was growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, she found it hard to find hijabs that made her feel confident. As she writes on her company’s website, she only owned two hijabs, and they made her feel “anything but beautiful.” So, she took matters into her own hands and started collecting vintage silk scarves instead of relying on the thick neck scarves available at the mall.

In 2010, she founded Haute Hijab, a business that sells stylish hijabs for Muslim women, and in of January 2018, she’s taken that dream a step further with the introduction of Haute Hijab’s first ever Luxury Collection.
