How should women cover themselves when they go out in public or are in front of non-mahrams? What is obligatory to cover and what is not?

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
- Hijab is a virtue. It is an act of worship and an order form Allah the Almighty. The majority of scholars agree that it is permissible to show the face and hands.
- It is also important to know how to cover oneself – not wearing tight clothes that reveal the figure, or that are see-through.
