Q
How should Muslim women cover themselves when they go out in public or are in front of non-mahrams? What is obligatory to cover and what is not?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
Hijab in Islam is a virtue. It is an act of worship and an order form Allah the Almighty. The majority of scholars agree that it is permissible for a Muslim woman to show the face and hands. It is also important for Muslim women to know how to cover themselves. They should not wear tight clothes that reveal the figure, or that are see-through.
