Does a Drop of Menstrual Blood After Prayer Invalidate It?

23 October, 2024
Q After I had prayed, I found a drop of menstrual blood and was unsure when that happened; what is the ruling on my prayer and fast?

Answer

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu waRahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In this fatwa:

Your prayer and fasting are correct, and you should not make up for them.

Answering your question, the General Iftaa’ Department in Jordan, states the following:

Your prayer and fasting are correct, and you should not make up for them, and we ask Allah, The Almighty, to duly reward you for these acts of worship.

Your menses start once you see blood because the situation remains as such unless there is certainty or predominant conjecture, as per the Fiqh maxim: ‘Certainty is not removed by doubt’.
