Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
Muslim women can use their voices on platforms like Instagram to share beneficial information, provided they observe modesty and propriety in their tone and message. By following the Quranic guidelines and the example of the Prophet’s wives, they can contribute positively to their communities while staying true to Islamic principles.
Responding to your question, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states:
You may use your voice to communicate beneficial information. While doing so, use an appropriate and modest tone and style.
Allah orders the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) while speaking to men, “So do not speak too softly, lest the sick at heart lusts after you, but speak appropriately.” (Al-Ahzab 33:32)
It is common knowledge that the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him), including Aishah and others, used to teach, speak, and answer questions from both men and women while observing proper etiquette. Thanks to these, we know that over two hundred scholars narrated traditions from her.
Therefore, you may use your voice to provide information and help people with your expertise.
