When it comes to memorizing the Quran, should we study Arabic first or just dive right into it?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
1- Learning Arabic to memorize the Quran is only one component of a routine. Memorization needs systems.
2- Begin to pick small vocabulary words from the Arabic language.
3- Study just enough of the Arabic language, some verbs, some nouns, some letters, some small phrases.
4- Make sure you are dedicated to reading, committing to a relationship with the Quran and then the Arabic language will just supplement a few words when you are making a sentence and memorizing it.
