It is disrespectful to bring a Quran into a bathroom. But what if we are at school or work and there is a mushaf (copy of the Quran) in our bag? Can we bring the bag with the Quran into the bathroom?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
- The Book of Allah deserves respect and should not be taken into the bathroom.
- If possible, leave it outside in a safe and elevated area.
- If there is no safe space, then take advantage of technology. Have the Quran downloaded on your phone when you are out, so as to avoid situations like these.
