In this fatwa:
Muslim youth can Celebrate Prophet Muhammad’s birthday by:
- Organizing halaqas and programs in Islamic centers to raise awareness about Prophet’s Muhammad and his noble morals.
- Studying the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) and his Companions.
- Doing some programs to introduce Prophet Muhammad to people from all communities.
Answering your question, Dr. Wael Shehab, PhD in Islamic Studies from Al-Azhar University and currently the Imam of the Downtown Toronto Masjid in Canada, states:
Young Muslims, brothers and sisters, are the backbone of our communities. Islamic centers should empower and support the youth, and give them leading roles in the mosques and Islamic centers.
On the occasion of Prophet Muhammad’s birthdays, Youth halaqas and programs in Islamic centers may focus on activities that raise awareness about Prophet’s Muhammad (peace be on him) and his noble morals.
They may study the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad and his Companions.
Young Muslims may do some programs to introduce Prophet Muhammad to people from all communities. This can happen by holding some programs to welcome neighbors, friends, and faith and non-faith communities to the mosques and Islamic Centers to know more about Islamic values and Muslims’ cultures.
Imams may seize the occasion of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday to educate the young Muslims about Islam and Prophet Muhammad.
