I have some pictures in my home, will the angles enter it?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
- This issue is a little complicated because the word “Tasweer” had a very specific connotation in the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). “Tasweer” referred to drawing, weaving or full figures.
- Photography doesn’t really equal the definition of Tasweer. There are some similarities but it is not the same.
- Photography is permissible and it does not invalidate anything and it does not remove the blessings of a home.
- A person should just be careful not to place a picture in a place that would give it too much honor and sanctity.
