In this fatwa:
If this Alawite sister is converting after being convinced of the truth of Sunni Islam, then you can marry her.
In responding to your question, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states:
If this Alawite sister is converting after being convinced of the truth of Sunni Islam, then you can marry her.
To convert to Islam only for the sake of marriage is not acceptable. For her conversion to be proper in the sight of Allah, it has to come from her heart, of her own volition, without external pressure.
