How Can Menstruating Women Perform Hajj? (Video)

24 June, 2022
Q What should women do if they get their period before Ihram or after Ihram? What are the rituals they can do?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In this fatwa:

  • Menstruation doesn’t stop women from entering into Ihram for Hajj or Umrah. A menstruating woman can recite the talbiyah “Labbayk Allahumma bi Hajj” or “Labbaykh Allahumma bi Umrah”.
  • A woman on her period does every ritual of Hajj except for making tawaf around the Kabah, until she is purified i.e., her period ends and she takes a ghusl.
  • A woman on her period can attend Arafat, Muzdalifah, throw stones and do Sa`i between Safa and Marwa.
