Answer
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu waRahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
It isn’t right for anyone to resort to bribery unless it becomes the only way to prevent injustice or retrieve (your) right. As for using it to win over the rights of others, then this is of the forbidden things in all religions.
Answering your question, Dr. Salah Al-Sawy, President of the Shari`ah Academy and the Secretary General for the Assembly of Muslim Jurists in America, states:
Bribery is of the major sins. The people who deal with bribery are cursed on the tongue of the messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Bribery is of the greatest reasons of societal collapse in many of the undeveloped nations.
Therefore, it isn’t right for anyone to resort to bribery unless it becomes the only way to prevent injustice or retrieve (your) right. As for using it to win over the rights of others, then this is of the forbidden things in all religions.
Allah Almighty knows best.
