In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
Working as real estate agent or appraiser is permissible, even if you know that the buyer is going to use conventional interest-based mortgage. That is not of your business, you are only helping in the sale/purchase of the real estate properties.
In responding to your question, Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, Former President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), states,
You can work as a real estate agent for both Muslims and non-Muslims. There is nothing wrong in this profession. You should help people to find good homes for purchase, but do not get involved in the un-Islamic ways of borrowing money for purchase.
In your job, you should be sincere with your customers and don’t hesitate to inform them about the halal ways of buying homes. May Allah make things easy for you.
