Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
- You should not rent out your property to be used as a center for beauty courses if you have a choice to choose.
- In case you do not have a choice, you may be excused as long as the service the beauty courses provide is not all haram.
In responding to your question, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states:
If you have a choice to choose, then you should not rent out your property to be used as a center for beauty courses. Otherwise, you may be excused – as long as the service the beauty courses provide is not all haram. Beauty courses cannot be deemed as wholly haram.
One of the principles of the Shariah is that we are not accountable for matters that are beyond our control.
Therefore, you should exercise your sound judgment regarding what you can do and what you cannot. You should also continue to ask forgiveness of Allah for to matters you have no control over. Allah teaches us in the Quran:
{Allah does not burden any soul with more than it can bear: each gains whatever good it has done, and suffers its bad- ‘Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make mistakes. Lord, do not burden us as You burdened those before us. Lord, do not burden us with more than we have strength to bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so help us against the disbelievers.’} (Al-Baqarah 2:286)
Almighty Allah knows best.
