Wedding invitations are actually a very crucial aspect in Islam. What is the ruling on accepting invitations to a wedding/waleemah? What are the guidelines?

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
It is obligatory to accept a wedding/waleemah invitation with some conditions. You do not have to accept the invitation if:
- There’s something prohibited at the wedding i.e. alcohol.
- It is going to cause hardship to oneself such as traveling, work etc.
- The wedding invitation is not specific to you. However, it is a right of a believer to send an invitation and have it accepted.
