In this fatwa:
Procreation is very important in Islam. So, it is not preferable for Muslim couples to use condoms. However, it is allowed to use it in case of necessity.
In his response to your question, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states:
Procreation is one of the most important objectives of marriage in Islam. So it is not good for married couples to shun it altogether.
However, if they wish to postpone conception temporarily for valid reasons, they are allowed to do that, as long as they do so consensually by using safe methods.
As for what constitutes a safe method, you are advised to consult a specialist.
Almighty Allah knows best.
