The Power of Du’a for the Deceased

Reciting Du`as (supplications) for the deceased is a powerful act of love, mercy, and remembrance. Here are some of the best and most commonly recited Du`as for those who have passed away.

General Du`a for Forgiveness and Mercy

Transliteration:

Meaning:
O Allah, forgive him/her, have mercy on him/her, pardon him/her, and grant him/her safety. Honor his/her arrival, expand his/her entry, and wash him/her with water, snow, and hail. Cleanse him/her of sins as a white garment is cleansed of dirt. Grant him/her a home better than his/her home, a family better than his/her family, and a spouse better than his/her spouse. Admit him/her into Paradise and protect him/her from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire. (Muslim)
