The Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad by Angel Gabriel over a period of twenty-three years. During Ramadan each year, Gabriel would recite all the verses revealed so far with Muhammad. At the end of his life, it was revealed to Muhammad the final order in which the verses and chapters were to be written down.
