Answer
Short Answer: Allah never intentionally harms us in any way. But some hardships happen in life, naturally, and there is a balance between good experiences and painful ones. “What do we do when harm comes to us? We put our faith in God. We ask him for a relief and for solace. And we know that God will store a great reward for us for the suffering that we experience in this life.”
Asalamu Alaikum,
Thank you for contacting About Islam with your question. Dr. Shabir Ally from QuranSpeaks.com addresses this question in the video below:
Transcript:
Aisha Khaja: “So. Dr. Shabir, the question is, ‘How do you stop resenting Allah for causing so much bad in your life?’
This person says, ‘I’ve lost the desire to pray because of what is happening.'”
Dr. Shabir Ally: “Well, one shouldn’t think that Allah is deliberately causing harm to an individual.
Allah loves all of His creatures and He only desires what is good for us.
But Allah has a great balancing act of deciding what good to give to which person, and what harm to allow to happen to some other persons.
And there’s this great variety.
Like some people are totally healthy, some people are totally sick, and many grades and shades in between.
So, with God creating this wide variety and allowing for things to develop in a balance between some random events and some controlled events, or you can say some broad, controlled outlines with many random events between that wide web or network, you can say.
So, God is not deliberately causing this harm to you.
Some harm results from the natural processes, for example.
But, what do we do when harm comes to us? We put our faith in God. We ask him for a relief and for solace.
And we know that God will store a great reward for us for the suffering that we experience in this life.
That reward will come to us in the life hereafter. And so, in the end, everything is balanced out.
We have some suffering here, but we have reward in place of that suffering in the life hereafter.”
I hope this helps answer your question. Please keep in touch.
Walaikum Asalam.
