It is permissible for Muslims to have spouses from Ahl al-Bayt. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) married two of his daughters to `Uthman ibn `Affan and another one to Abu al-`Aas ibn al-Rabi`; and both did not belong to his family. Even `Ali ibn Abu Talib married his daughter Umm Kulthum to `Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with all the Companions) who also did not belong to the prophet’s family.
