Can You Do Things without Allah Knowing About Them? (Video)

Q Allah is the All-Knowing, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. But is it possible for us to do things without Allah knowing, hearing, or seeing? Are there ways to do things without Allah knowing about them?

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. 

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In this fatwa:

  • Allah’s knowledge is complete. Allah’s knowledge is absolute. It is comprehensive. There is nothing that happens without Allah’s knowledge.
  • Nothing happens except with Allah’s knowledge. Allah knows the past, Allah knows the present, Allah knows the future, and Allah knows the impossible if it were to become possible what would happen. There is no being who is unconditionally knowledgeable other than Allah.

Yasir Qadhi was born in Houston, Texas and completed his primary and secondary education in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, after which he was accepted as a student at the Islamic University of Madinah.
