Did All Prophets Perform Hajj?

20 May, 2024
Q Did all the Prophets and Messengers of Allah (peace be upon them all) visit Makkah to perform hajj?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In this fatwa:

  • There is no narration that all of the prophets of God have performed Hajj. We know from the hadith of Imam Ahmad that there were 124,000 prophets and more 300 messengers that were sent by God to humanity.
  • It is inconceivable that all of them in one place or at one time have visited Makkah to perform hajj.
  • Nevertheless, a large number of prophets have performed Hajj. From the names we know is Prophet Moses (peace be upon him).
  • It is also important to mention that upon his return, Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) will lead the ummah and make tawaf either for Umrah or Hajj.
