Our youth become distant from Islam when we don’t correct people properly in front of them. When you get up and say “I will make dua for you, may Allah guide you” in pubic, that is not actually making dua for that person. On the contrary, that is insulting them.
This is not how you correct someone. If you are sincere about giving advice to someone and trying to correct their mistake, then you should do it in the same way as you would your child, relative or friend. You would never correct them in public or in front of others. You wouldn’t embarrass them.
When you disagree with someone, you then judge them as someone they are not. This is wrong. Youth go into the masjid and see the elders fighting and disagreeing with each other and how so and so is going to Hell. This leads to confusion and the younger generation do not know who is right any more. This then turns them away from Islam because people are fighting each other.
The aya in the Quran states that the next generation that comes along distances themselves from the religion. That is the punishment for those that caused these factions and disagreements in the first place.
