Two years after the Finsbury Park mosque attack, two Muslim men have been reportedly injured, one seriously, in a hit and run outside a Leicester mosque after Ramadan night Taraweeh prayer, The BBC reported Thursday.
The Masjid At-Taqwa on Humberstone Road said one of the injured people was a worshipper who has been attending Taraweeh, late-night prayers offered during Ramadan.
“Last night after Taraweeh, [prayers] one of the brothers who prayed with us was the victim of a hit and run just outside the masjid [mosque],” the mosque said in a statement on Facebook.
“He is fighting for his life, and we implore anyone reading this post to ask Allah the Lord of The Worlds to grant him a full and speedy recovery, and to grant his family plentiful patience to get through this very difficult time.”
The man, in his 40s, had left Masjid At-Taqwa mosque in Leicester with his teenage son when they were struck in Humberstone Road at about 01:00 BST on Thursday.
Leicestershire Police said the man was in a stable condition and a teenage boy had sustained minor injuries.
Two years ago, on the 17th of Ramadan, British-born terrorist, Darren Osborne, who hired a van and drove it into a group of Muslims who had just finished their prayers at Finsbury Park mosque.
Osborne, who had vowed to ‘kill all Muslims,’ murdered one man, Makram Ali, a 51-year-old grandfather, while injuring twelve others.
