Quran Reflections #9… Will Allah Answer Me?

{Lord, my bones have weakened and my head has turned hoary with age, but never, Lord, have I been disappointed in my prayer to you} (Mariam 19:4)

As we call upon to Allah in these final days of Ramadan and make du`aa’ to Him, some thoughts might hold us back in this process; thoughts that Allah will not answer our du`aa’ because we are not spiritual or religious enough, or may be because our circumstances are so tough and unfavorable that we do not think anything can change them.

But Allah answers these doubts with the story of Prophet Zakariya as he is making du`aa’ for a child. Prophet Zakriya made a private and passionate supplication: My bones have weakened, and my head has turned grey.

But despite these two physical facts that explain why I should not have a child, “never, Lord, have I been disappointed in my prayer to You.” You have never let me down when I called upon You.

Whenever you make du`aa in these last nights, do not get bogged down in why Allah will not do something. Realize that Allah is the most generous; He only answers du`aa’; and He can do anything that you ask Him for.
