Your Scientific Guide to the Next 150 Years
Futurology
Futurology is the study of postulating possible, probable, and preferable futures and the worldviews and myths that underlie them.

Science doesn’t just throw at us haphazard speculations. It organizes thoughts, prepares assumptions, produces predictions and establishes hypotheses in order for humanity to be aware of everything waiting ahead in the future for us as much as we can.

And that’s exactly what Allah and Prophet Muhammad have asked us to do as Muslims in the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah.

Surprisingly, science in the next 22nd century isn’t solely left for predictions, on the contrary there are well-defined scientific projects that we’re waiting to conduct inshallah. For example: Work on cleaning up the site of the Oldbury Nuclear Power Station near Thornbury in the UK, which was decommissioned on February 29, 2012, is scheduled to be complete between 2092 and 2101.

According to the Discovery Channel documentary, Extreme Engineering, the Japanese proposed Shimizu Mega-City Pyramid could be complete by 2110. The One Hundred Year Study on Artificial Intelligence (AI100) initiated by Stanford University will be concluded in 2115.

By 2200, it is predicted that Earth will become a Type I civilization on the Kardashev scale, according to Nikolai Kardashev’s extrapolation of 1% energy usage growth per year.

Because of medical advancements, there is an annual rise in the humanity’s life expectancy. This allowed some demographers to statistically predict that some people born in 2010 may still be alive in 2160. According to the UN Population Bureau, life expectancy in 2200 will be around 100 years old for developed countries and the world population will be about 11 billion. However, the UN has warned that these projections could be invalidated by any change and progress in future life extension technology and discoveries, as well as changes in future birthrates.

Science predicts some crises as well that we have to avoid starting from now, such as: by the year 2100, 12% (about 1,250 species) of the birds existing at the beginning of the 21st century are expected to be extinct or threatened with extinction.

The following futuristic scientific infographic compiled 40 intriguing predictions made by scientists and other assorted pundits in recent years about the shape of the scientific world till 2150.

The predictions range from the serious to the fanciful, from the exciting to the petrifying.
