Envy is questioning of the decision of Allah. It is almost like saying: “I hate that Allah gave that person this, but He did not give me.” It is almost like saying: “I deserved it, but Allah doesn’t understand.” It can be as bad as muttering: “Allah made a mistake!” We seek refuge in Allah from all such thoughts and inclinations.
Those who have set their hearts on God and have decided to reach Him never ignore any way that leads to Him. A sound heart leads one straight to God without any deviation. By living in the shade of the Qur’an and Sunnah they feel the manifestation of the Hidden Treasure in their hearts.
Why in a Makkan surah would Allah tell His Prophet and the Muslim community to deal with People of the Book kindly, and to engage in conversation with them? The reason for that is that they are about to leave Makkah, and they are about to go to Madinah. And when they go to Madinah they are going to be dealing with the People of the Book.
Madinah had a number of communities living in it with various customs. In matters wherein the Prophet received no revelation, he generally gave preference to the customs of the People of the Book who lived in Madinah over the pre-Islamic pagan customs.
The simple truth of Islam gives a life simple truth and meaning. Making such a huge change in direction can give a person perspective on life, one that will influence every decision they make from that day forward.
Every one of us should migrate from what Allah and the Prophet hate to that which they like and encourage us to do. It is about migrating from bad to good; from evil deeds to righteous deeds; from sins to repentance; from abandoning the prayers to establishing the prayers...
Hygienic habits are intrinsically part of wudu, the ritual washing or ablution a Muslim performs before prayer. Without wudu a Muslim’s prayer is invalid. Wudu involves cleaning the hands, mouth, faces, and arms to the elbow, head, ears and feet. These basic hygiene practices are now known to be integral to good health.
For those of us in the West who have accepted Islam into our lives, it makes us wonder if we should do the same-make hijrah. Some new Muslims want to escape countries where Muslims are feeling increasingly unwelcome. While others say more Muslims should stay...
Because little children are a sacred trust from God, we should remind ourselves not to be harsh with them. God is not even writing their “sins” yet, even if they deliberately break a precious piece of crockery, or touch anything in our cupboards or drawers that we have kept strictly off limits.
There is not punishment if you want to call it of doing something that is not correct, and you have to fear that there is a consequence. If you fail your exams, if you fail your tests you may not get into college. If you don’t have a proper GPA, no college would want to accept you.
Some Muslims might think that becoming Muslim is the end goal, but really becoming Muslim is just the start. When you pursue the path everything changes in your life. Also it puts people off Islam because they realize that things are going to change.
Some may ask "why do we struggle to find this happiness?" It is all about our mindset. If we deem happiness to be in the form of material goods or within only particular situations, we will always be waiting to find it. We will never feel we have enough. There is always another cell phone that is better than yours.
