Laura, an American new Muslim, expressed that she felt close to Allah when she accepted Islam, but explained that after a while, she felt she was just “going through the motions” and felt nothing. She felt she was a robot, and was yearning for that closeness to Allah again.

This is one of the real-life stories of du’a that I have seen in my life that I hold on to very dearly. It showed me so much... It taught me that Allah listens to all du’a and He answers as well. And in these last few days of Ramadan, as we seek out the best of all nights- Laylatul Qadr-
It was the little actions I did that brought me joy in a time of much sorrow and hardship. But it was the big acts I did that brought miracles into my life. Every time I would give something, do something for someone for the sake of Allah, I always saw a return of that kindness in ways I never expected.
Many of us desire the quick-fix. We look at all the great problems around us and may feel hopeless. Perhaps in our spiritual journey, we feel that we are not progressing as we like, and so we give up. We may get angry at a bad behavior of people. But any victory must come with patience.
While reciting the Quran, is the focus to be on quality or on quantity? Is it about reading with reflection and study the commentaries or is it about reciting as much as we can to complete the Quran at least once in this month from cover to cover?
Allah gives power and takes it away. No ruler or authority on Earth has power against the Will of Allah, but rather, Allah has given that power to today’s rulers and governments and individuals, and only He can remove it.
You know you might be a king in our job, we might be a millionaire in our job, we might be a road sweeper, but when our forehead strikes the ground we’re all equal in the sight of Allah, and we all say Allah All-Mighty, give me that peace that only You can give. Let me be one of those called Muslims because I have submitted to You.
We need to translate the restraint we show regarding our desire to eat and drink in this month into the ability to restrain our tongues and our hands when we are abused. We must, indeed, use our fast a shield, protecting us from bad behavior.
Somehow this call touched me, though at the time I didn’t even know what it really was. Its sound transported me to an environment serene and tranquil, in spite of the reality on the ground. When I heard it then, I couldn’t believe anyone could talk during it and not listen to its exquisite beauty…
The scorecard for our prayers is the example of the Prophet Muhammad. Doing your best to perfect the prayer postures and constantly pulling your mind back to the remembrance of Allah throughout, can lead to true success and Allah.
An important element for every Muslim to find ultimate contentment in life, no matter how difficult the circumstances are, is to strike a balance between this worldly life and the next life.
