#VisitMyMosque: Hundreds of UK Mosques Set to Open Doors in March

YORKSHIRE – More than 200 mosques across the UK will be opening their doors next March in an initiative organized by the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) to allow people a chance to learn more about Muslims.

“It’s back for the fifth year! #VisitMyMosque will be taking place on Sunday 3rd March 2019,” MCB website wrote.

The event invites people from all backgrounds for tea and biscuits as part of a national event to build better relationships with the community and dispel misconceptions about British Muslims.

Whilst mosque open days in Britain have been taking place for decades, #VisitMyMosque allows mosques to be a part of a nationwide event where mosques are able to open their door together on the same day.

It first began in February 2015, with around 20 mosques taking part.

More mosques are expected to register for this year’s event, seeing growth from 200 mosques in 2018 and 150 mosques in 2017.

Visit My Mosque Day is held annually in a number of countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, Norway, and France.

In Canada, the first-ever Visit My Mosque Day took place on Sunday, October 15, 2017.

Last October, some 100,000 non-Muslims visited more than 900 mosques across Germany.

During the event, imams in 900 German mosques gave presentations about the Islamic faith and culture and answered visitors’ questions.
