Muslim Coffee Shop Owners Forgive Burglars

LEICESTER – Overcoming feelings of anger and frustration, owners of a coffee shop in Leicester, England, have pardoned the burglars who broke into their shop, taking valuables and smashing other property.

“Unfortunately we were recently burgled, everything that could have been taken was taken and everything that they didn’t take was unfortunately smashed,” Omar, one of the owners of the Saints of Mokha coffee shop, told IlmFeed on Sunday, May 14.

“We saw it as an opportunity to react to it in the way our religion teaches us to, in a compassionate and forgiving manner.

“We wanted this to be a message to everybody out there that, to be the bigger person, to treat the situation with kindness and compassion,” he added.

The Saints of Mokha coffee shop was attacked, and stolen, late last month by unidentified burglars.

Coming to their shop, the owners were taken aback with frustration for seeing the damage that had been caused to their property.

After closing for one day, the owners posted a message on their doors, saying they had forgiven the attackers.

“We apologize for closing yesterday it’s sad to have turned a lot of you away, here’s a little message to those behind the reason for our closure,” they wrote in a message on Instagram.
