Birmingham Muslims in the Company of Angels

BIRMINGHAM – Hundreds of British Muslims flocked to the New Bingley Hall, Birmingham, to attend the annual United Muslims’ Convention, which kicked off on Sunday, July 9.

The annual convention themed, “In the company of Angels”, is attended by a galaxy of Muslim scholars from around the world including Imam Siraj Wahhaj from US, Shaykh Sulaiman Moola, South Africa, Abdur Raheem Green, UK, and Sister Dunya Shuaib from Dallas, Texas.

In the introductory speech, Dr. Shahrul Hussain said: “Take away from this convention one thing: a message of unity among Muslims. Let’s put our differences aside and let’s all unite as Muslims.”

After the introduction, Sister Shuaib, a marriage counselor from the US, gave a very motivational talk about relations between married spouses.

She suggested three golden tips for spouses to live a happy marriage: learn to forgive your spouse, focus on the good deeds of your spouse, and thank Allah for the gift of having a spouse and show appreciation to your spouse on a daily basis.

More speakers are expected to follow, including Imam Siraj Wahhaj from the US and Abdur Raheem Green, among others.

The convention includes a bazaar, kids face painting, talent shows, and interfaith Q & A time.
