Adeem Younis: The Man Who Played Cupid for 100,000 Muslim Marriages

LONDON – Adeem Younis, the founder of SingleMuslim.com, said his site played cupid for around 100,000 marriages since it was founded in 2000, Arabian Business reported.

The UK’s largest faith-based matchmaking website was launched in August 2000 from a tiny office above a Yorkshire pizza shop.

The website works as an introductions agency to help single Muslims find a compatible marriage partner, as an alternative to using traditional methods.

Over the past years, the website grew from just two original members of staff to eight and expects to keep expanding as the website continues to grow internationally.

As well as being available in the United Kingdom, the website also has Pakistani-, Canadian-, Australian-, and American-centered web pages.

Researches proved that finding love has become big business globally.

According to app research company App Annie, worldwide spend on dating apps was £448m in 2017. Dating apps made up three of the top 10 apps by consumer spending last year in the UK, according to the firm.

SingleMuslim.com is currently number eight in the top ten general dating platforms in the UK.

Another Muslim relationship app, Muzmatch, hit one million users threshold recently.

Along with Muzmatch, other applications such as Minder and Salaam Swipe offer similar services to Muslims.

As well as matchmaking, Younis is a Yorkshire-born businessman and founder of the international humanitarian charity Penny Appeal.

The charity works in more than 30 countries, providing life-saving interventions, and across the UK, offering a range of services including domestic violence counseling, a fostering, and adoption agency and an emergency response unit.

In the past three years, the charity has been registered in the US, Australia, South Africa, Malaysia, and the UAE, with a view to setting up more international offices in the near future.
