Islamic Convention Set to Open in Chicago

CHICAGO – The 15th Annual MAS-ICNA Convention, one of the largest and most diverse Islamic conventions in North America, will kick off in Chicago on Monday, December 26, to discuss the problems facing Muslims worldwide and particularly those in the US.

The annual convention of the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) will run from December 26-28.

This year’s theme for the summit, which will be held in Chicago’s McCormick Congress Center, is “American Muslims: Islamic Duties and Civic Obligations.”

The event is expected to draw thousands of Muslims from across the United States and Canada to McCormick Place in Chicago, known as the nation’s largest convention center.

The number has increased from only 500 attendants who appeared at the first convention that followed 9/11 twin tower attacks.
