American Muslims Await This Year’s MUNA Convention

PHILADELPHIA – The Muslim Ummah of North America (MUNA) will hold its annual religious and social convention on July 7-8 at Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, USA.

The event aims to promote knowledge about Islam and increase the interaction between the members of the Muslim community in USA.

“Internationally-renowned Islamic scholars will give speeches. A couple of Muslim youth gathering toward spiritual and social improvement will be organized,” Imam Dalouer, the national president of MUNA, informed on social media.

A family gathering event will also take place with a matrimonial service. Also, CamAli will provide kids activities to keep the young engaged. The Children’s program will include ‘Children Talent Show’ and Qur’an Competition.

Moreover, a bazaar with a variety of more than 100 vendors will take place. In addition, a North America Muslim cultural group named ‘Ummah Cultural’ will exhibit a number of cultural and da’wah events.

Prominent Speakers

One of the Islamic scholars who will lecture during the convention is Imam Siraj Wahhaj. He’s the Imam of Masjid At-Taqwa in New York. The African American imam converted to Islam in 1969. He received Imam training at Ummul Qura University of Makkah, KSA in 1978. Wahhaj was the first person to give an Islamic invocation to the US Congress.

Another speaker will be shaykh Yaser Birjas who is the Head of Islamic Law and Theory Department at Almaghrib Institute in Canada, and the Imam of Valley Ranch Islamic Center, Texas, USA. Birjas is a highly sought marriage counselor. He’s also specialized in parenting topics with a classy grasp on Islamic sciences.

Among the lecturers is shaykh Majed Mahmoud, a leading activist of Da’wah in USA. He has traveled around the world lecturing about Islam. In his pursuit for Islamic studies, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Jurisprudence & Legal Theory from Al-Madinah International University in Selangor, Malaysia.

Imam Mahmudul Hasan, UK, will also participate in the event. He’s the Principal of Southend Islamic Academy and Khateeb at Essex Jamme Masjid, UK. He is also a Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of London, UCL Institute of Education. He received his Licentiate Degree in Islamic Theology from Al-Azhar University, Egypt with outstanding excellence.

Mazen Mokhtar, the National Executive Director of the Muslim American Society will also give a talk at the convention. He’s a frequent lecturer on Islamic and interfaith topics.
