As salamou alaikum, when should we receite sourate Al Fatiah during group prayers? I listen to the imam but when he finish receiting Fatiah I never get time to receite it by myself. Please tell me the rule during group prayers should we just listen to the iman thats it?

In prayer, one is to maintain concentration (khush`) and reflect on the adhkar and tasbih he/she says.

 

When one prays in congregation, he/she should listen to the recitation of the imam and reflect on what the imam reads from the Qur’an. Allah says, “So when the Qur’an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy.” (Al-A`raf 7:204)

 

According to some scholars, the imam’s recitation of al-Fatihah is sufficient and people who pray behind the imam are not required to read it.

 

Abu Bakr Al-`Arabi, as stated in Sh. Sayyed Sabiq’s Fiqh As-Sunnah, says: “What we see as the strongest opinion is that one must recite during the prayers in which the imam’s recital is subdued. But, during the prayers where the Imam recites aloud, one may not recite.”

 

If the imam leaves sometime after reading Al-Fatihah, you may read it. When the imam resumes reading Qur’an, you need to listen to the imam even if you do not finish reading Al-Fatihah. In rak`ahs when the imam does not read loudly, you may read Al-Fatihah if you have enough time to.

Selamu Alejkum, My question is regarding Ishaa, I heard from someone that when Ishaa is need to be prayed, it has to be all dark outside, But sometimes, when the time For Isha has come it becomes not all dark but it is dark blue outside, So do u need to wait for it to become all dark black outside to pray, And what if someone prays while it is dark blue?, Does the prayer become accepted?

For prayer times, you need to check at the nearby masjid or Islamic center.

 

The issue of the time for ishaa’ is a debatable issue among our great scholars. While the majority of scholars say that the time for ishaa’ starts after the disappearance of the red rays that appear after sunset, other scholars, mainly Imam Abu Hanifah and his followers, say that the time for Ishaa’ starts after the disappearance of the white rays, which signifies longer time for the Maghrib and delays the Ishaa’.

 

When you study the practice of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) and the companions, you will see that they used to pray Maghrib at a fixed time, right after the sunset.

 

The hadiths that explain the times of the Prayers indicate that the time for the Maghrib is not expanded. For example, the hadith when the Angel Gabriel (peace be on him) came in two consecutive days to educate the Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) about the start and end of the prayers times, he came in the same time for the Maghrib in the two days.

 

Based on this and other proofs, scholars say that the Ishaa’ starts after the expiry of the Maghrib time. Imam Ash-Shafi`i estimates the time for the Maghrib as the time that suffices for making wudu, adhan, and iqama, and then praying 5 rak`ahs (3 for the Maghrib and two for the sunnah).

 

Makkah scholars  fix 90 minutes after Maghrib to start Ishaa’; you may safely follow this view of Makkah scholars.

Is drawing human face or animal face really not allowed. And if so, then why do many Islamic videos have animated version of different scholars lectures ??

In principle, drawing and photography are permissible, as the ahadith that indicate the prohibition of tasweer do not apply to these arts. However, the subject-matter of the drawings should be permissible.

 

Therefore, drawing human faces, animals, birds, etc., is fine as long as you observe the general morals and ethics of Islam and the subject-matter is legal.

Asalam alikumi wanted to know in state of ihram for a man if he has a problem of puss and blood coming out from private parts as he has done operations in past but it keeps coming back what's the ruling during hajj....

If it is beyond this brother’s control to remain in state of wudu during the Tawaf, his tawaf will be valid. Unlike other Hajj and Umrah rituals, being in state of wudu/purification is required for Tawaf only. Also, the brother should try his best to keep the ihram dress clean and pure.

 

Moreover, the brother is recommended to seek medical help too.

Hey, my question is as follows: Is it permissible to wear clothing that has been recycled. And when I say recycled, I mean clothing made of recycled plastic.(P.S. the plastic could have been used to contain alcohol) so the question is. Is plastic that may could have contained alcohol to make clothing halal?

If recycled clothes are clean and healthy, a Muslim can wear them. We should not go too far in thinking about the origin of the recycled materials.

 

Recycling, in fact, is highly appreciated as it saves resources and maximizes the benefits of using of what we have.

Salam I am asking a question regarding haram and halal food and acts. In Canada, we don’t have many ‘halal certified products’ so this got me wondering what ingredients are haram? I would also like to know what things are haram. Things such as gossiping, lying etc. If possible please don’t leave things out. Thank you, I look forward to your response.

What is meant by “halal” food is healthy, permissible food. So, a Muslim could eat healthy vegetables and halal meat. Halal meat is very common and available in Canada; many stores, restaurants, and markets have and sell Halal meat.

 

In addition to Halal certified meat, a Muslim could eat permissible meat slaughtered by the people of the Book as the Qur’an says, “Made lawful to you this day are At-­Tayyibat [all kinds of Halal (lawful) foods, which Allah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, etc., milk products, vegetables and fruits, etc.). The food (slaughtered cattle, eatable animals, etc.) of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is lawful to you and yours is lawful to them.} (Al-Ma’idah 5:5)

 

For the second part of your question, Islam, of course, forbids bad morals and acts such as cheating, theft, abuse, racism, etc. You may read a book on Islamic Morals for more details.
