Assalamualaikum. I wanted to ask that in Islam it is said that Zina ( fornication) is a debt and if a man commits Zina. His sister or daughter etc will face the same as someone will commit the same thing with them. Why is it like this? Why the man who commits Zina is punished by his daughters or sisters rape? I find this extremely disturbing all the time and no one gives me a proper answer. I was raped and harrased several times in my life and I am 18. Did this happened to me just because someone from my family has done these things to someone else before ? Why do girls have to pay for their brothers or father's sin what kind of rule is this? Please explain with a logical answer.

There is a widespread saying that zina is a debt and that if a man commits zina, the female members will get involved in the commission of zina. But this saying has no foundation in the texts of the Quran or authentic Sunnah. On the contrary, we read in the Quran “Yet no sin-laden soul shall carry the sinful load of another”, (Fatir 35:18) which reveals the absolute justice of Almighty Allah.

However, this saying has been propagated by preachers in their dissuasive admonitions to deter people from committing zina. In fact, the truth of this saying has been supported by some actual cases where men who have committed zina have discovered that some of their wives or female relatives have got involved in in the same abominable act. Such actual cases could be explained as sorts of worldly punishment for such fornicators and adulterers.
In other words, a man who commits zina and never repents will have his punishment in this world and in the hereafter. Part of this worldly punishment is to see such abominable act done by his wife or one of his female relatives. This may likely, but not necessarily, take place; for we all know that there many pious and chaste women who have husbands or male relatives committing zina.

However, such a man, who insists on committing zina, has weak faith and morality and this weakness of faith and morality may extend to his family members; particularly if he is the one responsible for them, which makes them more prone to slip into the same wicked trap. Usually corrupt houses breed corrupt people while good houses breed good people.

Of course, if one repents, after committing zina, this repentance wipes out his sin along with its worldly and Hereafter punishment. Almighty Allah says what means “And they are the ones who do not call upon any other god with God. Nor do they kill a soul- which God has prohibited- except by right. Nor do they commit illicit sexual intercourse. For whoever does this shall meet the penalty of sin: Torment shall be multiplied on the Day of Resurrection for such a one. Thus he shall abide therein forever, disgraced- except for whoever repents, and believes, and does righteous deeds. For [the likes of] them, then, God will substitute their misdeeds with good deeds. And ever is God all-forgiving, mercy-giving.” (Al-Furqan 25:68-70)

Drinking alcohol is one of the major sins. Almighty Allah says what means “O you who believe! Indeed intoxicants, and gambling, and idol altars, and divining arrows are but defilement from the works of Satan. So shun them, so that you may be successful. Indeed Satan only desires to instill between you enmity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling, and to turn you away from the remembrance of Allah and from Prayer. Will you not, then, desist?” (Al-Ma’idah 5:90-91)

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed ten involved in the [industry and consumption of] intoxicants: The one who presses it, the one who has it pressed, its drinker, its carrier, and the one it is carried to, its server, its seller, the one who consumes its price, the one who purchases it and the one it was purchased for.” (At-Tirmidhi)

Contemporary scholars have also declared the prohibition of smoking after it has proved to be seriously detrimental to health causing such fatal disease as cancer of lungs, mouth, pharynx, throat, esophagus, kidney, stomach, colon, and rectum.

Brother, you need to repent sincerely to Allah and quit both smoking and drinking alcohol. Quitting bad habits requires strong resolve. Pray to Allah to help you in this regard and be honest in your prayers. Avoid bad company and evil gatherings that may drive you to commit these sins. Develop a strong sense of piety and God-fearing to protect you from falling back into such sinful quagmire. Fill your leisure time with the remembrance of Allah and useful activities.

Finally, you have to make atonement for breaking your oath as mentioned in Surat Al-Ma’idah verse 89; that is, to feed ten indigent people with the average of what you feed your own family or clothe them. If you cannot afford this, then you may fast three days instead.

I learnet what happened to the yazidi people and it led me to do more research on the topic and I learned islam allowed such a thing is it true a slave can be forced to have sex with her captor.

We need first to discuss the issue of slavery from Islamic perspective:

With regard to slavery, Islam did not bring it out. It was an established system in the whole world and Islam made serious many changes to this system. Islam prohibited all ways of enslaving people except as a consequence of war with non-Muslims.

One of the options that the Muslim ruler has to deal with the prisoners of such a war is to enslave them. This enslavement aims, on the one hand, to deprive the enemy of such manpower and, on the other hand, to give these slaves the chance to live among the Muslim community.

As history proved, such prisoners of war became gradually assimilated in the Muslim society and became familiar with Islam, which encouraged so many of these slaves to accept Islam. From the Islamic perspective, to be a Muslim slave (who may also get his/her freedom in a way or another) is better than to be a non-Muslim free person; the former will enter the Paradise and the latter the Hellfire. Besides, Islam has prescribed so many ways for slaves to get their freedom as mentioned in the Quran and the Sunnah.

Slave women lived in the houses of their masters. The sexual relationship between the slave girl and her master strengthened her position in the household and granted her additional rights, on the one side, and satisfied her sexual desire, on the other side. The Quran and the Sunnah urged Muslims to treat their slaves kindly and not to overburden or abuse them. Usually the sexual relationship took place in a normal way. Of course, forcing a slave girl to have sex is a kind of abuse against her, but she is still her master’s slave girl and this is his right. It is not proper for a man to force his wife to have sex with him, yet she is his wife and this is his right. Sometimes a woman gets married under certain social or economic pressures and she does not like the man she is married to, but still he has rights on her including to have sex. A slave woman could also get married to a slave or even- under certain conditions- to a free man, in which case her master cannot approach her sexually.

Nowadays, slavery has been abolished in all the world and all Muslim countries have signed treaties to the banishment of slavery. It is not now an option for Muslim armies to enslave people.

Some people say that the sports company nike use shirk symbol and nike is the name of one of the greece goddess is that true? If its true, what is the ruling of wearing nike shoes or clothes, can a muslim wear clothes which has shirk symbols such as the christian cross mark?? Plz explain THANK YOU

It is true that the company takes its name from Nike, the Greek goddess of victory and the logo is also said to symbolize the wing of this goddess. A Muslim has to avoid wearing anything that bears symbols of disbelief or icons of other convictions. If one has such symbols in his/her clothes or shoes, they need to remove it. `Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never left anything in his house with crosses but he blotted it out. Assalamualaikum SirIn fact in Mauritius, we got lots of birds sellers. My husband also bought lots of birds for re-sale purpose. When the birds get babies, he sell them. He does it as a business. Many others do it here.He wanted to know if its permissible. It would be grateful if we can get some hadiths regarding same.Jazak Allah

There are so many kinds of birds and it is difficult to give one ruling for all. But as a general rule, all birds that can be used for valid purposes are valid for sale.

For example, it is permissible to keep, sell and buy pet birds, such as parrots and other colorful birds, which people keep for their lovely colors or beautiful songs.

Scholars have inferred such permissibility from a hadith narrated by Anas ibn Malik in which he reported that his little brother had a little sparrow he used to play with and that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would ask the child about the bird when he visited them. (Al-Bukhari)

However, a group of scholars consider it undesirable to buy such birds because this is a kind of wasting money and a sign of sumptuous living.

Carnivorous birds are also permissible to buy and sell as long as they are used for a valid purpose, such as hunting.

Salam, I have a question about something I am confused about. I am 16 years old, and every week my mom and sister have to go to another city for an appointment, and my mother ends up waiting in the mall alone, which might be dangerous. Their appointment is always on friday, and we use public transport so I might miss Juma, we have a cat as well and he cant be left alone for the several hojrs we spend there. Is it correct for me to stay in my city and leave my mom alone so I dont miss juma?

As long as this appointment is necessary, you have to be in the company of your mother and sister. Friday Prayer is not obligatory on travelers. So, if you cannot pray Jumuah, you have to pray Zhuhr instead; and there is nothing wrong in this case.

As for your cat, you have either to provide necessary food for it during this period or to let it go and look for food.  The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “A woman entered the Hellfire because of a cat which she had tied up, neither giving it food nor setting it free to eat from the vermin of the earth.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

If these are official divorce papers and you are sure of his signature, then the divorce is enforceable. According to the majority of scholars, such written documents substitute for verbal articulation of divorce.

"Assalamo Alaikum, I have few questions related to circumcision in islam.1) if a muslim is uncircumcised does it means he is continuously committing gunah e kabeera? he is not allowed for prayers and hajj is it true? Even though he strictly keep himself thoroughly clean and hygiene? I think the purpose of circumcision is to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, if uncircumcised person maintains cleanliness and hygiene then still he is sinful and not allowed in any prayers?2) What is the ruling for a Muslim who was circumcised in childhood by parents but now he wants to become uncircumcised again and it is possible by following a procedure which is completely natural and doesn't involve any haram procedure.3) can a muslim choose to become uncircumcised for personal satisfaction and if his wife also wants him to be as uncircumcised? does it nullify marriage?4) the procedure for uncircumcising involves special kind of skin stretching exercise with using a natural oil it can be done privately in a regular basis for 15 mins everyday.5) if there is a threat to Muslims in a country where Muslims are minority and ruling government is Non Muslim, in such situation can a Muslim guy make himself uncircumcised because he observes worsening of communal situation to make sure at the time of emergency he wont get identified as a Muslim by checking on his private part? Or he must just stay open about his identity even though he get killed? I know all the benefits of circumcision and it's importance but i am personally too curious to try how being uncircumcised feels like as i was circumcised very early in childhood hence i don't remember anything, maybe i will recircumcise myself someday later after becoming uncircumcised again, and also if wife also wants it.Please shed light on my questions Jazak'Allah"

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Five practices are of the characteristics of fitrah (natural disposition): circumcision, shaving the pubic region, clipping the nails, plucking the underarm hair, and trimming the moustache.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

The majority of Muslim scholars hold the opinion that it is obligatory on Muslim males to get circumcised. Imam Abu Hanifah maintains that it is only recommendable.

The opinion of the majority is more preponderant. When circumcision was prescribed for Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), he circumcised himself, though he was 80 years old. Recent scientific reports have showed how circumcision could be a preventive measure against many diseases including penis cancer, venereal diseases, and urinary tract infections.

So, a Muslim male who is able to get circumcised but neglects it commits a sin by neglecting such an obligation. Similarly a Muslim who gets uncircumcised becomes sinful as he willfully challenges Shari`ah obligations.

Nevertheless, circumcision is a separate obligation that has no effect on one’s belief or other religious practices such as Prayers and Hajj. It does not also affect the validity of one’s marriage.

If we suppose a situation where Muslims would be under such persecution that a Muslim would be killed for being circumcised, that would be a case of dire necessity that would justify getting uncircumcised. But one may not presuppose this situation unless there are portents of it.

Assalamu'alaikum. I work as a motorcycle taxi and I like to know what would happen if I get an order and I finish it by violating the rules of traffic? For example, I got an order that makes me need to make a u turn. The u turn is quite far, and the nearby u turn is not allowed to make a u turn. My question is: what would happen to the money that I get? Are they haram? And are there any solution if it is haram? Cause I have done it quite a lot.

Traffic laws have to be obeyed because they were enacted to prevent accidents and serious damages and, therefore, it is prohibited to violate such rules.

However, such violation does not necessarily render your income haram. This depends on whether such violation affects the income or not. Neglecting to wear the seat belt, for example, does not affect the income, while making a not-allowed U-turn to cut the way short does.

So, you are advised to stop violating such laws and to purge your income by calculating an approximate percentage affected by such violations in order to give it out in charity.
