Dear Sheikh, I am selected to perform hajj this year but I am unable to arrange money, I need around 4200 dollars. My question is, can I borrow this money from the bank through my credit card. My problem is if I don't go this time, my name will never be selected again.

Salam and thank you for your question.

Knowing that you don’t have money, you shouldn’t have put your name on the list of people going for Hajj this year.

However, if you really wish to go this year then you must convince the bank not to charge you interest.

You need to call your bank and tell them that you are going for pilgrimage and your religion does not allow you to pay interest. It does not hurt to try.

Otherwise, assume that you never put your name on the list because you don’t have money.

Please don’t despair from being re-selected again. Put your trust in Allah, make dua and keep on trying.

I have small doubt about Zamzam water but I know and 100% believe that Zamzam water is the power drink, cure for sickness and many more advantages of Zamzam water. But the thing when I was studying about Zamzam water I got to know that "Fraudulent Zamzam water and potential health risks" from wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/.../... how much of this is true. Because if Allah has made that well of Zamzam and he is the responsible to make Zamzam water pure, so how come it's possible to get polluted Zamzam water?

Salam and thank you for your question.

Initially, I believe you have misunderstood the article on wikipedia. It says that some people were selling unhealthy water and claiming it to be Zamzam.

At the end, it clearly said that a French laboratory examined the real Zamzam water and found it to be perfectly healthy to drink. Also the Saudi authorities test the water daily.

Abu Zar Al-Ghafari narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Zamzam is food for the hungry and a cure for the sick” (Al-Muntheri -Sahih)

Also, Jaber Ibn Abdullah narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Zamzam water is what one intends to drink it for.” (Ad-Dimyati – Sahih)

The above hadith means that if a person intends or supplicates when drinking Zamzam water, it will be fulfilled by Allah.

Assalamu Alaikum sir, I was giving dawah to a non-Muslim friend who asked about the theory of evolution in the Quran, so I said to him it is just a theory not a fact but he said amoebas alter their shapes; it is evolution or something else. Please explain sir.

Wa Alaykum Assalam and thank you for your question.

Yes, many creations do evolve but that does not mean that men evolved from apes. This is what evolution theorist talk about and it is what Islam rejects not that the amoebas changes shapes.

So let’s focus on why a human would evolve from an animal that looks externally alike but completely different internally. Humans have intellect which distinguishes them from the rest of creation.

How can intellect evolve? It simply doesn’t; it is God’s gift to humans. Allah tells us in the Quran what means:

{Verily, We created man in the best stature (mould).} (At-Teen, 95:4)

As-salamu Alaykum. I have a question bothering me since a long time. In which language a dua should and can be made, and will my problem get heard by Allah in English as well. I found it rather difficult to learn the correct pronunciation and I am always afraid, when saying something not in my language, that I might forget saying a word without noticing. Furthermore, when praying Istikharah Prayer, I am learning the Arabic words of the prayer itself, but I am not able to mention my case/problem in Arabic as it is not my language. So is it better to recite the dua/prayer in English where I can ask my question to Allah in English as well, or can I switch to English in the middle of reciting? Thank you very much for your advice and may Allah bless you for your help

Wa Alaykum Assalam and thank you for your question.

Yes, you may make any dua in your own language; Allah understands all languages.

Many Muslims memorize prophetic duas in Arabic then learn its meaning in their own language to understand it and it also helps them memorize it better. It is also advisable to ask someone who knows Arabic to teach you some short Arabic duas.

However, it is not an Islamic requirement that you learn the duas in Arabic. It is only recommended because we will be saying exactly the same words that the Prophet (peace be upon him) had said to invoke Allah.

Obviously, understanding is better than memorizing without understanding because it increases our level of sincerity.

Therefore, you may read the istikhara or any other dua in English. It is your sincerity that will make the difference.

Try learning short prophetic duas in Arabic just to improve your language skills; I think it will benefit you in the long term.
