Haiti Hurricane – Appeals By Muslim Organizations

Hurricane Matthew, the strongest Caribbean storm in nine years, is causing destruction and displacement in Haiti. Over 15,000 people have been displaced and 350,000 are currently in need of assistance and it’s feared that up to five million people may be affected.

There are reports of overcrowded hospitals and shelters. Food and clean drinking water are becoming scarce. There is high risk of water borne diseases like cholera and malaria due to heavy flooding resulting from violent rains and winds. There is immense need for assistance in Haiti as the emergency crisis situation escalates.

Your support now can help to ensure that Haitians are equipped to cope with the hurricane impacts.

Below are a collection of  emergency appeals conducted by Muslim organizations

Families are in urgent need of food, water and shelter since Hurricane Matthew devastated Haiti, leaving over 1000 dead and thousands homeless. The hardest hit parts of the island are 90% destroyed.

When the 2010 earthquake hit Haiti, MH was present on the ground in Port au Prince within a matter of days distributing aid to 20,000 people. We’ve been there ever since.

Now, our teams need your help to reach hurricane victims, many of whom are from desperately poor communities, with life-saving relief.

Muslim Charity

Hurricane Matthew is the most powerful hurricane in sixty years to hit Haiti and has caused severe devastation to one of the world’s poorest countries. Sadly, lives have already been lost, thousands of people are displaced or cut off, homes have been destroyed, transport and communication networks are down, and there are shortages of basic supplies.

In a country still recovering from the 2010 earthquake, the people of Haiti urgently need your help to provide clean water supplies, shelter and hygiene kits.

Muslim Charity is coordinating relief efforts with partners on the ground. Please donate generously.

With years of political instability, over half the population were already living on less than $1 (around 70p) per day. A third of children suffered chronic malnutrition – one of the highest rates in the world. With schools, hospitals and homes all destroyed and having to be rebuilt, hope for Haiti’s already uncertain future was severely set back by the earthquake.
