Muslim Clinic Offers Free Health Care in Washington

U.S. Muslims have opened their first non-profit clinic based in a mosque that provides free and subsidized medical care in the state of Washington, the Sammamish Review newspaper reported.

“It’s for everyone. So if you can get here, we’ll give you health care,” clinic director Nehath Sheriff.

She said the facility, named Community Clinic, offers medical care for both Muslims and non-Muslims in Washington.

Hosted by the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) mosque and the Muslim Community Resources Center (MCRC), the clinic offers basic health care, including wellness exams and screenings and preventive care and education.

Patients are referred through the clinic to participating health-care providers.

“This clinic has been a long-term dream of mine and our organization. It’s incredible to see how it has all come together today,” said Sheriff, whose mother founded MCRC in 2010.

“One of the fundamental basics of Islam is to love for humanity what you love for yourself. And today we are showing our faith in action by providing this clinic for everyone.”
