Muslim’s Volunteering Efforts Recognized by US Former Presidents

The five living former US presidents appeared together for the first time since 2013 on Saturday, October 21 in Texax.

Barack Obama, George W Bush, Bill Clinton, George HW Bush and Jimmy Carter came together behind The One America Appeal, set up to help those caught up in the devastating trails of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

Among the volunteers highly praised and honored by the former presidents for their efforts was Murad Ajani; an American Muslim who made great efforts in helping  hurricane Harvey survivors.

As devastating as Hurricane Harvey has been, it continues to bring people together around one common goal: help Houston. When Murad Ajani saw the toll Harvey took on his hometown, he seized the moment to bring together a community of more than 2,500 volunteers to help with recovery efforts.

Along with evacuation efforts, Murad and his team have gone above and beyond to help with recovery projects in Houston. Volunteers were deployed to locations all over the area including the Houston Food Bank, the George R. Brown Convention Center shelter, the NRG Center shelter, St. Theresa Catholic Church, St. Laurence Catholic Church and the Southeast Food Bank. At these locations, volunteers packed and served meals, collected and delivered supplies, and helped with general clean-up efforts.

Murad’s efforts show that when people are in need, there are always people out there willing to help.
