British Teen Prevents Many Suicides with Her Uplifting Notes

This British teen is doing an extraordinary action to prevent people from killing themselves.

Paige Hunter, who is 18 years old has posted dozens of uplifting messages on Wearmouth Bridge, a popular spot for suicides in Sunderland, England, to encourage people not to commit suicide.

“Since I put the messages up I’ve had a lot of comments from people. They’ve said it’s been really inspiring,” Hunter told My Modern Met.com

“I wasn’t doing this for an award; it was just something that I wanted to do.” The British teen has posted many encouraging messages from “You’re not alone”, “Don’t give up. Not now, not tomorrow, not ever.”, to “The world is much better with you in it”.

According to the local Northumbria Police, Hunter’s inspirational notes have so far helped save the lives of six people.

Honoring her selfless action, Northumbria Police Chief Superintendent Sarah Pitt has presented the caring teen with a framed commendation certificate.

“We thought it was important to applaud the work Paige has been doing and the help she has given those in Sunderland who are going through a mental health crisis,” Pitt said.

“It is important that we encourage people to speak out and raise awareness of mental health issues and the impact on people’s lives.” She added.
