I Don’t Have the Same Love for Islam as Before

09 March, 2017
Q I have had a lot of knock backs through my life and im only 17. I have always been told to have patience and to wait for the "reward". i am at the point of feeling there is no reward and no one is listening. I am loosing faith and i don't have the same love for islam as i once did. i feel most people believe in it because they need something to give them purpose. I feel no one has you and no one is watching over you. I am in doubt of everything. I dont understand what to do . I feel some sort of connection to islam still which is why im here but i feel its just guilt becuaee i feel im doing something wrong. I just need a little help, i feel i dont know practically anything as it is. and the stuff i have came across is quite opposing to islam.

Salam ‘Aleikom,

Thank you for sending in your question. What you are mentioning in your question is actually very much something that everyone goes through at some point. Everyone’s level of faith will go up and down, and we all face these trials in life, but they are alhamdulillah for a good purpose. There are a number of reasons why we go through these experiences, but there are a number of ways also by which we can deal with them…

Like I said, we all go through these trials to some degree or another; some people have greater trials than others, but it’s about how we interpret them that determines how well we cope with them and how much distress we experience as a result of these trials that we face…
