Answer

Salam Dear Reader,

Thank you for your question and for contacting Ask About Islam.

Initially, I advise you to repent to Allah with sincerity and pray to Him to keep you on the straight path and away from the deeds that He dislikes.

1. Stay away for people who encourage you to do wrong.

2. Remove from your sight anything that reminds you of doing evil deeds.

3. Do some type of exercise daily, such as jogging.

4. Make a schedule for each day so you are efficiently able to attend your classes, pray, study, exercise, eat, and rest.

5. Fast every once in a while.

6. Keep up with your five daily prayers, especially the fajr prayer; try to be more devoted in performing them on time and with sincerity.

You might be thinking that those are things that are hard for you to do at this point in time. With strong will, you will be able to do it. Do it a little at a time and keep it up.

As Muslims, we don’t need anyone to tell us to stop sinning because Allah is watching us. Therefore, we need to stop sinning because we love Allah and we wish to please Him.

By Following a long-term strategy involving: connecting to Allah through fulfilling your Islamic obligations, sincerely seeking His forgiveness daily and possibly seeking the help of a qualified healthcare professional, you will be able to get rid of your addiction inshaAllah.

Allah says in His book what means:

{Who have believed and whose hearts have rest in the remembrance of Allah. Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest! Those who believe and do right: Joy is for them, and bliss (their) journey’s end.} (Ar-Raad, 13:28-29)

{O ye who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance. And glorify Him early and late. He it is Who blesseth you, and His angels (bless you), that He may bring you forth from darkness unto light; and He is ever Merciful to the believers.} (Al-Ahzaab, 33:41-43)

I hope this helps answer your question.

Salam and please keep in touch.
